Blog #11  -  25 August 2013  :  Below     (Our magnolias)

Blog #11

Sunday, 25 August 2013 ~

August is the month when all the magnolias are in flower - and this year our magnolias have been absolutley glorious - the best they have ever been!  Keith and I totalled them all up the other day, and altogether we have planted 24.

Not all the same varieties - Little Gems, Grandifloras, Starburst, Star Wars, Heaven Scent - to name a few.  Some have deep crimson cup and saucer shaped flowers, others have large & others have small tulip shaped flowers in varying shades of pink, others have enormous snowy white, fragrant flowers, others have smaller white flowers, some have very fine soft pink multipetal flowers and others have very tiny creamy white flowers.  Each variety beautiful in its own way.

Unfortunately my photography leaves a lot to be desired, but here are a few photos.
The dark crimson flowered magnolia was actually beyond its best when I finally took the photo and the other two are not focused properly!

Despite all the busyness with packing up, displaying at events and then restoring things to rights,
I have managed to do some other stitching besides my Mystery Sampler. You may recall I was stitching my design, 'Growing Friendship' in a different colourway
and JBW's beautiful, delicate 'Rose Motif Sampler' design.  Finished both of these projects.

Here is Judy's lovely design -

I stitched this design with one of the lovely Silk 'n Colors overdyed silk threads by The Thread Gatherer -

SNC 108  -  Sophie's Strawberry

Must bring this to a close as I need to spend some time to do the "finishing" of a new needlework design.

Hope you too have been able to find time or make some time to enjoy some stiching.

Sherelyn
