Blog #3

Sunday,  21 April 2013 ~

Stocktaking all completed!!  And what a relief to have it finished.  Over 90 pages of printed stock items - and often a stock item will only have one code but there may be thousands of that code.  (e.g.  DMC 117  -  DMC Stranded Cotton  :  when counted, there were over 5,000 of them!).  Each stock item had to be counted and checked against the quantity as recorded in the computer.  None of the 'gift' items are included in the computer and so these had to be counted and listed separately.
Fortunately the Christmas stock was already counted and itemised, because when packing it all away at the beginning of January, I recorded everything then.

Every spare moment is now being taken up with writing up all the Cash Books, recording debtors and creditors and assets sold or purchased during the past year for the accountant.  When finished, the same details will have to be written out for our other business enterprises, plus our personal details (such as interest received etc.).  Wouldn't it be nice if the Inland Revenue Dept. paid us or gave us a credit on our tax to be paid for all our time to prepare all these details for them!?!  Pigs might fly!

As for my mum's situation - she is still in hospital and not doing too well.

They have tried to rehabilitate her but she is no longer able to walk (even with two nurses assisting).  She has lost all her confidence - even to stand assisted. Consequently we have had to have discussions with her doctor and her care givers as to the next step.  She has deteriorated and some days she is quite confused.  So sad.

She was so attractive in her youth.
The photo of her on the left is on her wedding day - 11 October 1947.
She was only 17 years old.

The photo on the right was taken on the day she and Dad celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary -
11 October 2007.

We've had some beautiful days weatherwise lately.

It's such a long time since I took the photo of the back area of our home  (December 2006)  that I decided to take some current ones.

Haven't the trees grown?!

That's all for the moment.

Bye for now.     Sherelyn
