The Mystery Sampler

Several years ago, well known New Zealand embroiderer,  Elizabeth Darrah, designed a beautiful band sampler.

In 2012 Elizabeth donated this design to the Northern North Island Embroidery Guild
as a project to raise funds for the Embroidery Guild Conference that they are to be hosting in 2016.

They named it
'The Mystery Sampler'

It was a mystery as participants did not know what the finished project looked like until they had finished it!

This project was over six months.
Each month the participant received a progressive section of the sampler.

The finished sampler was 4" x 20" when worked on a 32 count fabric.

Choice of thread colours for the sampler was the participants choice:
 - the main working thread being a 12 ply variegated silk thread from The Thread Gatherer
-  five plain complementary colours
-  #8  and  #12 Perle Coton

(for the Whitework sections)

Fabric, fabric count and fabric colour was again the participants choice.

Heirlooms was pleased to help with all of the participants requirements

Project began:  1 November 2012     /     Project ended:  1 April 2013

However, one could start at any time
